Dear Diary,

“Dear Diary” is a project that reconstructs an assortment of common childhood memories. I often think about the way that we store memories in our minds. It’s interesting to consider how much of our memories have been unconsciously embellished. When we look back on our lives and reflect on our experiences, we often view them through a more cinematic lens. However, this tends to make it difficult to determine whether or not our memories actually happened the way that we remember them.

Many of us have a habit of enhancing our memories. Sometimes this practice is an effort to shield ourselves from potentially harsh realities and other times it's because the emotions we associate with particular memories are so positive that we feel a need to memorialize them. While this project consists of scenes that remind me of my childhood, I also attempted to incorporate elements that I feel most of my generation can relate to.
